Visiting Tollered is a journey in time.
Tollered is an old factory town where most everything is preserved from the time when the textile factory was in full operation. There are signs on many of the old houses that describe how life was here nearly 100 years ago.
Also preserved is the Upper Power Station, one of the oldest power stations in Sweden. It was built 1908-09, powered by water drawn from Lake Torskabotten and partly delivered via a 300 meter long sheet-metal pipe. Having served the factory and community with electricity for more than 70 years it was shut down 1981. Today the station is an industrial heritage site preserved in its original condition with its generators and electrical instruments intact. Tours are arranged by the museum association and arranged by clicking here.
But time here has not stopped. There are many shops, a restaurant and a café and much more in the community and in the neighbouring Nääs Fabriker area. At the Sjölyckan restaurant you can even rent a canoe.
Take the exit on E20 for Tollered/Nääs Fabriker.
