Windmills have been built in the Mellby valley since the 1700s.
The Borg Windmill is a smock mill in the Dutch style where only
the top rotates. The mill was built in 1881 and was operative
until 1924. At the renovation in 1972, the machinery was found
to be in excellent shape, excepting only those parts that had
been exposed to wind and weather. These needed replacement. New sails and an oak mill axel were installed in 2014, returning the mill to full operable condition.
The mill is open by arrangement.
From St. Mellby take county road 190 towards Nossebro. After
about 1.5 km you’ll see the mill on the right side.
