Why this map?

Do you find it hard to find new sites to visit in your neighbourhood? Or if you are visiting us from other parts of Sweden or other parts of the world? That’s why we have included both well known, often visited places along with those that might be harder to find. And all are in some way connected with nature or culture.

We have chosen to call them PEARLS because that’s how we see them – small, valuable places you can visit without having to travel far away from our region. A number of them can even be reached using the commuter trains between Göteborg and Alingsås or the various bus lines through the region.

Sometimes it is necessary to have good shoes as the terrain is hilly or broken, while to others you can even take a baby carriage. All pearls are interesting in every season, though some have open hours or require that you call ahead in order to enjoy a full experience. The symbols next to the description will tell you this.

There are many exciting sites to visit in the Gothenburg Lake Kingdom. Many dedicated enthusiasts work to develop new ideas and projects that enrich the area and contribute to creating a living landscape. Remember that many of these work as volunteers in order to keep life in these old buildings. They deserve consideration and thanks for their effort. At the same time you need to be careful with how you use the nature surrounding each site.
